Vikings Adrian Peterson out of battle for a month

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson could be out of action until sometime next season after tearing the anterior crucicate ligament in his left knee during a 33-26 win against the Washington Redskins on Saturday.
Quarterback Christian Ponder after taking a hand off from in the first play of the second half, Peterson suffered the injury during a three-yard run in which he was tackled by Redskins safety DeJon Gomes and was crunched in the left leg.
Peterson, who missed three games previously this season with a high left ankle sprain, ended the day with 38 yards and scored a touchdown. In this season, he has 970 yards and 12 touchdowns. Peterson will unavailable for next week’s season finale in opposition to the Chicago Bears.
An MRI scan carry out late Saturday night confirmed the tear, which could keep the 26 year old out of action till the start of coming season.
The four-time Pro Bowler, who recently signed a $100 million bond extension to play with the Vikings for the next seven years, was previously battling through an injury-plagued season after suffering a high ankle sprain in week 10 against Atlanta.
In 11 games this season, Peterson has swift for 932 yards meaning this will be the first season that he does not notch up the 1,000 yard mark since he come in the league in 2007.
