Jaime Alguersuari discloses he was astonished by Toro Rosso’s choice to axe him, but he is declining to criticize either the Toro Rosso or Red Bull’s.
Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi wil be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne next season, with the declaration coming as a surprise following a strong end to the season for Alguersuari particularly.Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost, though, said that both drivers had gained sufficient experience to prove them and keep them would not fit with the viewpoint of the team.
Tost said that Sebastien has been with Red Bull for three seasons and Jaime for two and a half. Both of them worked hard for the side, doing their very best and attain some good results. Still, Scuderia Toro Rosso’s philosophy has always been that of the “rookie training school” and with more than two seasons under your belt, they are no longer a rookie.
Tost did admit that he would have rather see the drivers graduating up to Red Bull instead of being left without a drive, but said the decision reflect the spirited nature of Formula One.
Drivers would move from Scuderia Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing, but there are no opportunity with our sister team right now. It might be seen as a cruel choice, but Formula 1 is a hard environment and Toro Rosso has always been very clear about the principles behind its driver choice. According to Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost.
